What Is Digital Asset Hodling?

Welcome to Digital Asset Hodling.

For a long time I’ve been an investor in traditional markets such as equities and bonds, through Mutual Funds, ETF’s and Broker Accounts. And as a sub-sector of these activities I really love owning assets that produce some form of cash flow, normally in the form of a yield from interest payments and dividends.

Rather than being much of an active trader, I mostly follow the ‘Buy and Hold’ approach to investing and enjoy picking out companies/funds/trusts etc that I think will perform well over the long-term so that I can just keep them and build up the stream of incomes that flow from them.

A few years ago I was introduced to cryptocurrencies and purchased my first holdings of coins/tokens such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, XRP, Stellar Lumens and Ark to name a few those that interested me most at the time.

Since that time the market went through a huge rally and then collapsed into a prolonged bear market. The landscape has continued to develop through this period though and where it was initially centred on ‘cryptocurrencies’, a broader market developing where terms like yield, staking rewards, tokenomics, liquidity providing, fee sharing are become part of the landscape.

I think the world of Digital Assets is about to establish itself as a new asset sector and cause quite a revolution. I’m not looking to give up my portfolio of traditional assets but I now want to focus my future investments on finding opportunities in this new generation of assets that will bring the old ‘Buy and Hold’ strategy to the digital world; and that will be Digital Asset Hodling.

‘Hodling’ being a term coined in the fiery volatility of the crypto market and representing my desire to keep hold of assets and not focus on speculative trading of them.

In my next post I’ll cover some areas where this is already possible, outline the kind of options available and share a few thoughts on how I think this will evolve.
